Just a week left to reach our target!
Thanks to donations from many of you, we are one step closer to our goal, - fantastic!
There is also an extra flower in the bar, but as you can see, we are not there yet.
Bibi Smit has once again made a new film to show you all the hard work that is being done to create this beautiful chandelier inspired by the In Full Bloom flower exhibition. With your generous and enthusiastic support, we hope it will soon be on display in the atrium… a gift from all of us.
If you haven’t already done so, please participate and donate. Every contribution helps. Then we'll see you in the autumn for the festive unveiling!
Donations can be made via account number NL63 ABNA 0519 6660 62 in the name of the Friends of the Mauritshuis Foundation, please mention 'Gift 200 years'.
Spread the word, spread the word!
Thank you very much for your support
Bibi Smit presents Maru Mori in Milaan
This year Milan will open its doors again to the 60th edition of Salone del Mobile and host the glass artist and designer Bibi Smit, who has been selected for all editions. From June 7th - 12th, the artwork titled ‘Maru Mori’, will be presented as part of Masterly – The Dutch in Milan, curated by Nicole Uniquole.
MARU MORI
In Palazzo Turati, in the left corner room of the central courtyard, you will walk into a room bursting with colour; softly folding nuanced shapes, draped and nestled together almost like casually fallen fruits and petals. They represent slightly uncomfortable and awkward, but also beautiful and tasty fragments of nature. I call them Maru Mori, meaning the “the heartbreaking simplicity of ordinary things”, taken from ‘The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows’ by John Koenig. These unique, colourful glass shapes form a strong visualisation of the joy of nature and the circle of life.
